Arrive in Cairo and meet your local representative, then visit the Al Saladin Citadel, a 12th-century hilltop fortress that includes the Alabaster Mosque. Continue through Coptic Cairo with stops at the Coptic Museum and the Hanging Church, one of Egypt’s oldest Christian churches, before checking into your accommodations for the night.
Begin the day with breakfast on board before disembarking at Edfu for a horse-carriage ride through the city. You’ll visit the Temple of Horus, the best-preserved temple in Egypt and a magnificent monument dedicated to the falcon-headed god. The cruise then sails toward the Esna Lock, where you’ll experience the dramatic descent to a lower water level and enjoy some of the Nile’s most beautiful views.
On arrival in Luxor, you’ll explore the East Bank, visiting the iconic Luxor Temple and the vast Temple of Karnak—dedicated to Amun, Mut, and Khonsu, and renowned as the largest religious complex ever built. Its spectacular Hypostyle Hall, with 134 towering columns, remains the largest room of any religious structure in the world. This evening, return to the cruise for a lively belly-dancing show.
